Welcome everybody,
For all thoes new to the site and lockpicking, LP101 is a great place to start.
Take a look at the new users section, first and don't be afraid to ask any questions just remember to try a search before posting.

If you're looking for locks to pick, buy some but, DO NOT PICK LOCKS YOU RELY ON
I repeat DO NOT PICK LOCKS YOU RELY ON, they can and will break, then your house/car/safe/chasity belt is vulnerable or unable to be opened (think: emergency situation).

Cheers,
UWSDWF

Hey all,

My name is Ben (yundi, my nickname,is actually a indeginous name for marijuana here  ) I'm 16 and is from Australia.

I only started lock picking about a month ago but I'm making a fair bit of progress... my friend and I were mucking around with our mates bike chain, it was the simple 4 number comb. ones. He showed me how to bypass them which wasn't hard. The face of my mates face when we were riding his bike around was priceless. So well...and that's really what got me into lock picking.

Anyway, this website is mad :D

Hi to ALL.....!

Hello, I've been a member for a while, but have done much more reading than posting. I'm a mechanical engineering student and have always been interested in locks. I've been picking for a few years now(comfortable with basic pin tumbler [mushroom pins etc], and various abloy models), but am interested in learning more about advanced locks (I have an understand mechanical principles [torsion, strengh of materials, physics, etc.] but could really benefit from experienced professionals/hobbyists who are knowledgeable in high security locks/safes). However, I realize I need to establish my trust before I am granted the 'sacred privileged' of the "advanced" locks forum access.

This forum is great and I hope to provide valuable contributions to this community. I took the Foley-Belsaw course several years ago (thanks for advice lp101), which was a great introduction to locks/locksmithing, but it does not compare to the amount of information available online (lp101, toool, crypto, etc.).

I would eventually like to start a pick group in the Washington D.C. area (unless anyone knows of one already?). I contacted the U.S. extension of Toool, but the admin never responded after I sent him my lp101 name, lol.

Keep up the great work guys!

P.S. As my college tuition is draining, I've looked into a automotive opening service (which will be affiliated with the university so I do not need to bother with a business license). Could someone PM me with suggestions on distributors of quality automotive tools. Thanks!

Welcome, new members.

I've got a couple of things to say to you guys:
- Read the guides.
- Read the rules.
- Read a lot.
- If you have a question, use the search function first.
- If you can't find your answer, don't hesitate to ask.
- Don't pick locks you don't own.
- Don't pick locks you rely on.
- Don't do as the priest does, do as he tells you to do.
- Hang around and teach the regular crowd something new, it happens.

Most of all though, and bear with me, because this is important:
HAVE FUN AND HAPPY PICKING.

Yours,
Jordy

Welcome all,

I hope you are all enjoying the site as much as I do. Just remember two things:

1) Search for answers before posting a question. But do not ever be afraid to ask one.
2) Only pick your own locks, and not the one's you rely on (front door, car door, safe).

Here are some helpful links to information you need to know and want to know:
