a week ago I could pop a master lock #3 in 3 seconds without thinking and I came back yesterday from a vacation and it is just as hard as it was when I first started learning. Is this normal? :?:

yep. you are training the muscles in your hand and arm to perform in a certain manner. after awhile they start to get really good, if you stop doing it for awhile they lose some of their training. its kind of like an athlete that gets fat and lazy, it takes some time to get back in the groove

not unless you lost some fingers on vacation. :lol:

nah sometimes i go back to my old locks and they take a little longer than what i remember. A few minutes and it all seems to come back though.

Lock picking is something you can easily over think. Sometimes you become your own worst enemy and need to start with some real easy locks and work your way back to the harder stuff. Its like like how major league pitchers sometimes lose their stuff and need a trip to the minors.

That's exactly what happened to me. I got lazy and didn't pick up a lock for a few weeks, and even before that I was relying on raking the things open a lot. Now I'm forcing myself to single-pin pick everything, starting from the lowliest padlock in my collection (well, second lowliest...the lowliest opens if I accidentally stick the pick in too far). I was amazed at how long it took me on the first attempt after my "break."
