you could just shim it, that would be easiest.
but if you want to pick the lock on the back you would do it the same way as any other cylinder lock

Funny how many people "buy" school locks and post in multiple threads asking how to pick them without even reading the threads here. If you want info there is a lot to be had if you search first and not waste the time of the veterans around here asking for shortcuts in more than 1 thread before you even introduce yourself. They learned by taking the time to educate themselves and I bet you could too.

Just the two cents from a newbie around here.

Hey, welcome to the site and such. Everyone gets this lecture so it is not directed at you necessarily...

first off always follow these simple rules:

1) Search before you ask, this makes life better for everyone because there are less repeat threads and we're not answering the same "what is a bump key" type questions over and over.

2) DON'T PICK LOCKS YOU RELY ON!!! This means if the lock is attached to a door, cabinet, vehicle, chastity belt, casket, whatever... unless it is there for the SOLE PURPOSE of being picked, DO NOT PRACTICE WITH THAT LOCK. You CAN and WILL break it... and then your in trouble.

3) DONT PICK LOCKS YOU DONT OWN!!! The only thing worse then breaking the lock attached to your sister's chastity belt is breaking a lock you don't own. Unless you are a locksmith or have EXPLICIT permission to pick a lock, with the owner understanding the lock may be damaged, DO NOT PICK IT.

That being said check out these places for helpful information on getting started.

The MIT Guide to lock picking can be found:

HERE

the LSI Guide to lock Picking can be found:

HERE

and check out EVERY link found on this page, they are all great:

Is it much of a coincidence that both locks he bought are used in schools?

om my 2cents b4 this thread ends up getting locked

Yes the lock can be compromised, in several ways. including a an algorithm. BUT i cant tell u why because the thread looks a little suspicious. no offense. all the information is on the site, the site is not just here to answer questions its a community. have a look around and i hope u become a regular visitor.

All the best

but what's even funnier is that their first peeps are not introducing themselves, but asking how to pick these cheap-o locks -- "step-by-step". makes you wonder what mischief they are up to. my answer...

#1
get out your bolt cutters...

#2
put the shackle of the lock between the blades of the cutter.

#3
squeeze liberally.

there. howzat for ste-by-step? anything else you wanna know?

1. that lock is designed to prevent shimming

2. there are three pins in the back section

3.take a saftey pin and push on the piece of metal that holds the shackle in and pull up on the handle after you push the metal in

welcome to the forum... here at LP101 we discourage any and all possible criminal activity. A coomon occurence here is school childeren trying to break into lockers, as we discourage this, we do not tell sketchy first time posters how to open these, mad for school, locks.

Cheers

They discourage to the point of open suspicion of all newbies motives and goals!
Considering the subject matter, I agree. This forum probably attracts far more than it's far share of teenage terrorist-wanabes that think stealing someone's books from their locker is the uber-cool.
