I picked my first lock!!

Postby Nick_Coffey » 31 Dec 2006 17:39

Hey everyone!

I am soo excited! I picked my very first padlock! Its a small Coghlan's padlock, and I picked it with just one paperclip. I am now going to try a bigger sized master padlock, then if Im successful at that, I'll try one of my house doors that is never used.

Wish me good luck!

PS. Soon, none of us will need keys - lol.

Nick

Happy pick-Locking!

Yes we will, because many of us will change locks after learning that theirs is easy to pick.

I think you were lucky, because the padlock was small. You need two picks to open a lock:a tension wrench and a pick (at least, this is how i learned to pick). :)
Congratulations.I know the feeling of your first picking. You can't describe it.

i did it once too on a VERY small padlock since i couldnt use the tension wrench and a pick at the same time, i used the pick for torque also and it worked :P guess that's how he did it :D

Congratulations, as mentioned either buy proper picks, or make some yourself (plenty of guides on the site, see the FAQ section) you can open locks with paperclips, but you won't go far especially if your trying to learn at the same time, better picks will make things easier and help with improving your skill continuing to use paperclips is shooting yourself in the foot.

I'll try one of my house doors that is never used.

probably by the time I've written and posted this there will be several more posts with "don't pick locks you depend on, theres a chance you can damage the lock." but I'll say it anyway.

if you haven't already, read the MiT guide and many of the other guides almost all are posted in the FAQ section with links to other guides such as the MiT as well as a stickied thread listing most guides with links to them:
