pick pouch

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

pick pouch

I came across this surgical tool kit holder, and immediately thought: Hey, that could hold a bunch of lock tools!

Rather neat. I may have to order one myself just to see if I'm right. I'm just so bad at sewing my own things, this looked like a neat alternative to store tools.

good idea. i've been using a cigar tube (the metal tube a decent cigar came in not one of the flimsy macanudo ones) as a case, but it's difficult to pull out the one i want from it.

for my loose kit I use a leather case that used to be for a multi-tool. I cut the side so my tension tools slip in but don't get lost at the bottom....
it holds.... 7 peterson blue handles, 2 rytan picks, 10 SO (no handle) and currently 4 TTs (one is twist-flex) but has held 7.

so in a case that is about the size of a .45 magazine, I have 23pcs set and it fits on my dutybelt.

TADA!

I keep my pickset in a CD Case - contents are a pickgun, 5 pce extractor set, plug spinner, 'fantastc plastic' latch shim and a pickset with roughly 12 picks (riveted/plain handles) and about 4 tension tools. Also is a bogota set. They come out fairly often ;)
And there's still enough room to fit a lockwood Oval (570) scylinder for practice :)

If I forget to take that, I have a spare set of bogotas in my wallet.

i just use the falle case, i have added a few but it is bulky and not fun to carry around and unroll infront of people because it draws too much attention

I do that too, had to stuff a tissue down the bottom so that the picks dont fall out the small gaps.

I like that it has small elastic bands to hold the tools upright, and is "covertly" labelled!

case

Postby raimundo » 30 Dec 2006 13:15

the case I would like to see for those popsicle handle picks would be like a folding hand fan, with the pick tips capable of being spread on the pick tips end, while the handles would all stay stacked at the other end. you could just fan it out, select the piece you want, and fold it up.

I use the Southord pouch that comes with the PXS-14 set. It's nice, fits in my pocket and I don't even notice it, plus neither does anyone else, but that surgeon's pouch does look nice and I may have to get a friend of mine who works in a hospital to get me one of those to try out.

I prefer nylon case

I also use the Falle case, very well made, but I agree a little bulky. It does hold over 50 tools though. I am looking for a smaller version of the falle case.

medics case

Postby raimundo » 2 Jan 2007 11:38

the medics surg instrument case will probably not be as Ideal as you may believe from looking at it. the instruments its made for are of a different dimension, and the canvas is thick, (least it used to be.) the concept is ok, but you would need one made smaller for the picks, and then theres the question of how many picks you want to carry, and of what types. look at small camera cases, PDA cases, magnifier eyeglass cases, etc. there are a lot of small pocket cases of one type or another out there. and then there are the DIY types, like the guy who posted a photo of his magic marker case.

I was looking at the Petersen pick cases. They seem to sell rather inexpensively, but I decided against them because their smaller ones are just a simple pouch. I don't like pouches because your tension wrenches drop to the bottom and you have to dump everything out. I like organization (We must have Ordnung! [Sorry to all our German friends] )

The size of the surgical tool kit is larger--7" tall, but it rolls out for display/selection.

I ordered one because I've made so much stuff, I need to put it somewhere.
