Hello everybody,
First time poster, long time lurker.
My name is Kyle and i'm from New York and Have ordered my first set of lock picks from Southord 2 days ago. I was wonder about the average shipping time from them if anybody has ever bought lock picks from Southern Ordinance.
Thanks a lot,
Kyle

Thanks a lot! I've always wanted to pick locks for a while, especially after seeing a spy movie when I was younger (I think it was James Bond). Anyway, incase anybody is wonder, I bought C500 Slimline picks. I figure that these will be good because they are relatively inexpensive incase I decide that I don't really want to get into the hobby. If I do really commit to lockpicking though, I will probably end up making my own picks.
Off-topic: Does anybody know a good beginners lock to start on?
Thanks so much.

Welcome to the Forums Kyle. I would like to suggest you read the rules of the site. It would also be a good idea to buy a deadbolt with no security pins and go through Digital Blue's exercise very slowly in order for you to become a skilled lockpicker. Good luck.

Do a search and all of your questions will be answered.
For the best book out there on high security locks and their operation, take a look at amazon.com for High-Security Mechanical Locks An Encyclopedic Reference. Written by our very own site member Greyman! A true 5 Star read!!

First of all, welcome!!!
2ndly, Update your location as New York, otherwise you'll have a lot of questions about your location.
Finally, as to your question. I live in New Jersey, and received my order within 5 days of placing it. I woudl think that shipping time should be about the same for you.

well, as for shipping, i am not terribly pleased with SO. older members can attest to that.
im on the west coast (as my profile says) and it took a while for my stuff to arrive. granted, i may have screwed the process a little on accident, but still. t took like 2-3 weeks to process my check, which i guess is ok, and then a week and a half ish to get here. maybe 2 weeks, i cant remember.
what i do remember is that when i emailed the site admin, larry newbertry (company founder) emailed me back (or at least it was signed larry newberry) and then my stuff seamed to be on track. but then again, maybe i was just too anxious for their arrival.
the wait for them to arrive is the worst.

I just got an email from them saying that they shipped my order, about 30 minutes ago. But the UPS tracking number says not available, which is normal if it just shipped. I should expect to have it in a few days.
As for a lock, I was thinking of picking up either a cheep Kwikset or Schlage deadbolt at my local Home Depot. I have read over the link in Digital_Blue's guide (which is great BTW), for the disassembly of the deadbolt, but it seems a daunting task to me.
Later.

i have about 15 locks, which is misc padlocks, misc mortise/rim style locks and deadbolts, i got them free by randomly going to a locksmith and asking for anything being thrown out and such.
south ord ships ground and the reason why it hasnt shown on UPS yet is becuase UPS probbaly hasnt either picked it up or the driver hasnt hit the distributing center yet.

It's a simple question Doctor, would you eat the moon if it were made of ribs?!

any aussie guys ordered through southord? How long does it take southord to process a c/card payment? I was thinking of getting one of the 15 pce slimline sets (C1500 or C1510). What do you recon is the better option? The link to the ones I'm looking at is here.
