thanks everyone for all your help, I ended up taking out the rear hatch lock which was the same and took it up to the local locksmith to get a key made,an all up cost of $25, which included two keys. Pretty good I thought. Also Does anyone know of any good Locksmith courses that dont cost a fortune where I can learn to become a locksmith. Ta

As mentioned where you live will change which courses are available to you, but avoid the weekend courses, especally the ones promising to teach you everything you need to know. The one lesson you'll learn there could be summed up as. "This is Mr DeWalt, there is Mrs Kwickset, now introduce the two."

there are a few other members from Australia on the forums. couple from NZ as well but im not sure if that will be any help tp you. the best bet is it fill in your profile with location details and introduce ur self in the lock sport local section of the forum. get to know some local members a bit better. well thats my advice anyway

All the best

they have day classes for people that are not doing apprentaships, if you want to do it as a trade go to a good locksmith compony and talk to them otherwise give the collage a call in melboure, i can give you there details if you want

not me, i've got different auto lock issues (the driver side on my volvo 240 is getting stiff and occasionally requires a bit of jiggling) but in general mr. dewalt is friendly in a relatively agressive manner or at least abrasive but often has penetratign insight into a problem.
