Information about locks themselves. Questions, tips and lock diagram information should be posted here.

This is a 5 lever lock with separated and individually sprung levers. Most unusual here.
The double bitted key lifts the levers and releases the brass plate which moves the shackle.

Nice lock and pictures. That is the first lever discus lock I have seen. I have seen several old abus lever padlocks, but none were discus models.
For the best book out there on high security locks and their operation, take a look at amazon.com for High-Security Mechanical Locks An Encyclopedic Reference. Written by our very own site member Greyman! A true 5 Star read!!

Check Bembel's location, Germany. Home of the Abus Diskus.
But wow, I want one too. Guess I need to save up those frequent flyer miles ;-)

It seems that they're very hard to get, even in Germany. I've also never seen one of them before.
First I thought it must have been an earlier Diskus series. Then I found this English web shop still selling it and thought: Maybe it's an export model, not for the German market?
I wonder why Abus makes it so difficult to buy this lock.

I've picked a lock pretty much that same model, used my SouthOrd Jack on it, took me all of 30 seconds to open it... But maybe it was a little different in the internal workings that THAT particular model?

That diskus there is a lever lock. You shouldnt be able to pick a lever lock using SO's jack knife set. You must have had a pin tumbler diskus.
