Buying single picks

Postby Mike-1 » 12 Jan 2007 16:13

Hey guys, new to the site and its really good.
I found a site where it told you how to make an electric picker "technical term" and I don’t want to cut up one of my picks to attach to the end.
Are there any sites where you can buy singular picks without having to have a minimum purchase of £15
Or could I buy a spare pick from any members (I no this part should be in the buy and sell part sorry)
I live in the uk.

I would make my own but I’m in the process of buying a grinder and that could take weeks.

Any thought?

lol first off that technical term is EPG or Electric Pick Gun.

But of you are making one then u don't need a pick on the end u been a straight piece of metal. have a search round the site there are lots of guides on here, im assuming u found the one based on the electric tooth brush?

Personally ide avoid them as lock picking is about the challenge if it a hobby (well for me it is anyway) where about in the UK are u from BTW?

Yep tooth brush it is lol.

I like lock picking because it is a challenge, I’m not trying to learn to rob stuff.

I'm from Chester, near Liverpool.

I'm training to be an engineer but a being locksmith does appeal to me, and many of the skills I’m learning could help.

I'm only trying the tooth brush thing because it’s done for under £5 and I thought what’s to loose.

Thank you for giving me those links.

good man in it for the challenge, but an EPG will take the fun out of it. get over to southord and order a slimline set for europe/jap locks and follow DBs guide for beginners its really does help. ive even gone back and repeated to hone my skills a bit if i haven't picked in a week or so. although ones uve done it once u can start on 3/4 pins.

I've done 2 4 pin locks and a 5 pin lock once, carnt do it agin though.
I've picked up a pick set but would like to start making my own.
I need to buy a front door lock just so i dont screw up mine, i'm worried about trying becasue i read that you can break them.

So far i'm most impressed with the shims, amazing. only takes a min to make and who cares if they break after 5 goes, you do get like 10 from a coke can.

Well impressed.
