if there is double sided waffer locks. can there be double sided pin tumbler locks? pins coming from top and bottom of plug?

if so who made this type of lock

I haven't seen a double sided pin tumbler lock, but see no reason one can't be designed and made.

I know on the tool website there was a 15 pin lock i think being bumped... only thing that comes to mind is the Schlages, although i believe there pins arnt from the top and bottom, but the do have two different sets of pin stacks...

Never seens a double sided pin tumbler but there are the Kaba locks

google Kaba Gemini Quattro and Penta i belive

Yes Kaba are almost like something you are talking about. 3 pins on the left and right side. 2 pins up top. With a total of 8 pins. Wide keyway as well. The key sure slides in and out nicely with Kaba locks as well

there is always the crucifix lock (im not sure thats what its called tho)

it is often used in that club auto lock thing. the key is the shape of a plus sign

and there are pins on all four sides in the lock, so it is actually a quadruple sided pin tumbler lock.

look around for it.

yea i was also wondering if making a quad pin tumbler would be possible but i guess its already been done.

im kind of considering making a double sided pin tumbler lock. i just have to think how to make it first. any ideas?

KABA 8 is a 2-sided pin tumbler lock.

lol, i just thought of a lock worse than a tubular to pick with regular tools!

You know how Krypos mentioned the "crucifix" locks? well just make one of those to have all the same cuts on the four sides, and make it have to be turned two full times in order to unlock it. That thing would be a nightmare with it relocking a total of 8 times

the with this is that if you are trying to fit this into a similar sized housing, you'll have to go with smaller pins, and less size difference between said pins. that's why cruciform locks can have 12 or 16 pins and still be easier to pick than a 7 pin best.

I have one of these here's a pick of the key. I removed this from a customers car and he said he wasn't going to put it back on. He could not get if off with the key, it was gummed up and sticking. I told him if he was going to throw it away that I would like to have it and he gave it to me.
