Inside the RUKO series 600 – A guide by Net-rom

Postby net-rom » 21 Jan 2007 11:02

First a little history! Ruko is a Danish company has made locks for 75 years. in 1951 Assa, the Swedish lock company, bought Ruko. Ruko is still the most uset lock in denmark !

here follows a brake down of a ruko series 600 !

1) the lock and key

2) front view of the lock (sorry this pictur is a bid fussy)

3) back view of the lock
http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o103 ... 600_1a.jpg

4) front view of the pluck and housing apart
http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o103 ... o600_1.jpg

5) side view of the pluck
http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o103 ... o600_2.jpg

6) side view of the housing
http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o103 ... o600_3.jpg

7) the pin stack (note all the top pins is security pins)

finale note this is a nice lock, hard to pick (haven pick it yet) but the security level of the lock is not so high . . . you can "bump" it in a second !
If it isn't broken . . . fix it until it is !

European ASSA 600 (like TWIN 6000 but no sidebar) locks have the same security pins. They are almost unpickable. I think the plug has some kind of unusual extra drillings so once the security pins false set their borders rest in these extra cuts. Pushing the pins does NOT make the plug turn back no matter how hard you try.
The only possibilities would be to use *ultra* light tension or trying to use the tensioner to rotate the plug backwards manually... still a p in the a.

I wonder if this issue has been covered on here? And whether all standard ASSA/RUKO locks behave like this? What about this one?

I have piked several of these, but the security pins coupled with the counter-bored pin chambers makes it a *very* tricky challenge.
