After opening a car in a few quick easy steps, I usually explain that the charges are related to my advertising costs and the costs involved in getting me there, rather than the (what amounts to) something like $600 per hour for the 5 minutes I was with them (most of it doing paperwork).

I disagree entirely that throwing the keys back in the car is "bad customer relations". That doesn't make any sense at all to me. The customer has already made relations "bad" by refusing to pay. Its not really the time to be concerned with "customer relations", its the time to be fairly compensated for your hard work. You're being ripped off.
