Welcome to lp101 and congratulations on picking you first lock. The "snake" tool is a rake. It is for raking back and forth to set a few pins or all of them. For future reference before you get flamed search for something before you ask. Happy Picking

Welcome, check out the beginners exercise from Digital Blue, it will help you alot. Don't pick locks you rely on, you can damage them. Most here are very helpful with any questions you have.

Yeah DB's beginner sticky helps a lot.

If you go to the lefthand sidebar, click 'memberlist' and you can search for people by location, but a lot of people don't show their location soo....

Anyway, welcome to the site!

Did you do the follow up to the beginners exercise using a lock with security pins?

Picking a lock with 5 security pins after a few days? I'd say keep working on this lock until you can open it in a few minutes instead of 2 to 3 hours.
