Where to buy locks?

Postby 11mike11 » 23 Jan 2007 4:43

I was wondering if someone could tell me where to buy some decent locks from. I've looked in places like home depot but they seem to just have easy locks there. It seems like a waste of money to buy a lock and crack it in a minute. So any suggestions? or do i have to order them from the net?
Oh and also what would be a more popular brand of lock that would have security pins in it?
thanks for any help :)

many schlage brand locks have 4 security pins in them. pick up a schlage deadbolt at lowes or home depot.

also many people sell locks here on the forum, check the buy/sell/trade section. most of the time you can get a better price from someone here then you can buying a lock in the store.

dont forget about ebay, craigslist, yahoo auctions, etc...

I remember a wile back i went to a store that sold stuff from houses.
doors, windows, toilets everything.

I picked up some really expensive locks from them, for about 2 dollars i got 20 locks because they didnt have keys.

Even if you ask a locksmith. One gave me a box of schlage locks and keys and a few american locks and keys. some raise the eyebrow at you but as lons as you arent looking for a free handout all the time you should be okay

I asked a locksmith if he had any locks and some pins that I could buy from him. He ended up giving me several locks and a bunch of pins, and told me to come back and he would give me some more. I also picked up 14 brand new lock cylinders (Schlage, Best, and Russwin) on Ebay for about $50. There's a lot of deals to be had on Ebay right now. Just some ideas.
