LSDA 40mm Security pins?

Postby v12v12 » 25 Jan 2007 12:42

Okay folks, I've stumbled upon another keyless lock that seems to be in decent condition and for some reason beyond me, I cannot seem to get it to pop! It looks just like a cheap old Master no.3 which I usually can pick with in 5secs or less... not so with this little gem. Here are some pics if anyone might know about the pin profile...

Good luck

Not sure on the model, but sometimes the cheap chinese knock offs can be unpredictable. Usually raking is the way to go for these cheaper locks. I have a couple of tricky cheap locks that don't pick easily, and it's certainly not due to the tight tolerances.

Thanks for the reply: So do you know if LSDA pad locks have security pins? I should not be having this much hassle with this lock. I can pick most locks I come across with either a: Half-diamond/double-half, Snake, Hook, Basic rake pick... I don't really use any of the other ones, They all seem to be the same for cheap to mid-range locks...

Yes they do, or atleast all of them I have opened have them.
For the best book out there on high security locks and their operation, take a look at amazon.com for High-Security Mechanical Locks An Encyclopedic Reference. Written by our very own site member Greyman! A true 5 Star read!!

ARGH how annoying... this makes me wonder; if a cheap knock-off (I assume) of Master can have security pins, wtf doesn't Master make their lower end locks with at least 1-2 pins? Those No.1, 2, 3, 5, 7's are nothing but eye-candy. Can be picked in 2-10seconds! :?:
