Got any pics of a cut in half lock????????
so it shows the pins
and the cylinder and otherstuff with the key I need help understanding how the lock works???

Even better, pick up a padlock at your local drug store, grab a hacksaw and spend the next entire weekend you have off from school or work in your room.
If a lock is a puzzle, then its key is the complete picture

Hes hit the nail on the head, you will learn so much more from taking one apart your self. but it wont take u a weekend, maybe an hour. be well worth your trouble though.

Sounds like a good Idea to take one apart my self so I know the insides
and can make a good pick.
what works best when you guys go to pick a lock?

Most people prefer a hook or half diamond pick. Some have particular fancies for particular locks. If your search fu is high, you can find a bunch of different threads about people using particular picks on certain locks. Myself, I prefer a hook or deforest type pick. If you didn't already know, a deforest looks like a cross between a hook and a half diamond. I know there's an image on here somewhere if you search for "deforest."

Or in most peoples experiance, to find the search button would be a good start, you dont need any special skills to use it simply type in what you want to look for,
