The Newest Newbie Pick (with a twist!)

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

The Newest Newbie Pick (with a twist!)

Postby LockNewbie21 » 27 Jan 2007 7:54

HAha yea i got bored, Well I finished the tangs the others, However the polished handels got boring, So I burnished it with a secret way! So basically it's a wood grain on metal now.. or so i was trying to attempt.

The Handels Thickness was cut down, Grips were added to be comfy yet still have your finger close to that tang, added the knife style grips, and finished it with rubber grips at the end.

Actually the Idea for non pollished burnished handed came just simply cutting my danm hand on my buddy's knife with doing some wiring.

Colective time for shaping filing sanding bonding and such, 1 1/2, not to bad Enjoy :)

from some hardware stores you can get a tin of this rubbery stuff, you can dip your tools in it and it drys and sticks to the tool, its the same stuff as you have on cheap plier handles.
have you tried something like that for you pick handles?

good job with your pick

Nice work. Reminds me of some of the butterfly knives they sell on south ord.
If a lock is a puzzle, then its key is the complete picture

krypos in love. krypos blow load in pants. krypos moving away from computer and towards bathroom now.

nice work andy. i am very jealous, i thought i was doing real nice with my stuff, but yours i like a lot.

you ever try doing short handle picks? i can do a 3" pick. 1.5" split 50-50 for handle and business end ( technically speaking, what is that called?!)

ive made a couple more new short picks. they are awesome wallet sized.

THanks guys I really appreciate the comments.

Krypo's I have made a few, Infact Skyler has a set that extend no larger than a credit card for that set i gave him mainly upper plug tensioners, the most univesified part of locks is the upper tangs, granted they are nto the same, but you will undoudtly fit say 2 double sided tensioners for the upper part of the keyway and be set.. really set.

Hold on a bit I will post two occpaning vertical double sided tensioners I made.

I was thinking of selling it, but you'd have to pretty pretty hardcore into homemade crafted picks. Drop me a PM if compelled and offer i suppose. If not just enjoy. If i had a video cam i would love to do a more updated version than pyro's for the forums, Man i would kill to see ray explain his finishing

Any way let me whip up a few picks, I may sell the tensioners in a set, I don;t knwo it's the weekend so we'll see.

I made a typo I meant to say plug not tang in the upper area is most universified for getting some kind of consistent wrnech (plus the feel is better I.M.O)

heres the picks, they are not good, but there is a lights for size comparrison. Also the flat wrench is serrated on both sides, dang things never slip :D
