It's not a Kwikset, its an old Weiser. The plug will come out if you pick it 180 degrees in reverse to key opening, and pull on the flat strip (the tail-piece actuator) coming out the rear of the assembly.
You can also actuate the release of a Weiser KIK cylinder by inserting a "Weiser shim", a piece of thin shim stock, into the keyway on the right hand side of the key, and depress the same release mechanism you can release by taking off the entry knob set, and pushing on the release system, without having to dissasemble the lock.
It saves a few seconds in the field.
Incidentally, picking Weiser KIK's (key in knobs) can be a frustrating expeience for young lock-pickers if you pick them the wrong way, and find the cylinder body, (teh brass plate and plug - in hte photo) fallls out in you hands, and you can't figure out how to put it back witout a key.

As whiteknite says. I think you had already posted these picks elsewhere. Please do not double post. FYI, this question had already been answered numerous times for weiser locks, please search next time.

Regardless, yale or weiser the hardware design is the same. Pull out on the tailpiece when the lock is picked.....

Ok, I have no idea what I am talking about... Try this then pick the lock rotate 90 degrees and stick an awl in the hole on the side of the knob. Then pull out on the knob... If that does not work then you are doing nothing we say to do right.....

Then it comes out like a weiser. Try picking the lock in the other direction and pulling out on the tailpiece.

You do need to try turning the tailpiece too while pulling out.

Pull out on the small square tail piece.. you may want to use a pair of vice grips to clamp the tail piece out. Pick as usuall or use the correct key, turn 90 degrees ( I forget witch way) , the cylinder will come out the front similiar to a Kwickset.

Dude, Your awesome. .. I picked it... rotated the plug 180* then pulled that thing in the back. the lock fell apart in my hand. and everything was pretty smooth from there on out, it was wierd, the housing that held the top pins and spring was all plastic.
zeke79 thanks for the help. also every one else. your advice was great. always is. always appreciated.
one thing I had a question about. you guys said this lock is a weiser.
the thing is.. it has a kw1 keyway,, and also when i went to chacge the bottom pins.. i used my kwickset plug foller and it fit 100% perfect.
I have not studied the weiser lock much,,,,{or at all} and i was just wondering what make it a weiser. from everything i am getting from it .. i was thinking kwickset. ...
I installed all new locks on my grandparents house and this was on a bedrrom door. one thing that i thought was wierd to was that most the locks {door knob handles and locks} were mix matched... gold and silver.
appreciate the help
