I'd forgotten about the great Irish plant thiefts. About a week after posting that hideous reply (the numerous spelling mistakes and the general wackiness both of which I must apologise for) the disapearances stopped. Police never informed neighbours that they'd arrested someone, so we assume either the flora nabbers were either travelers that moved on, finished planting their own garden, or were rogue landscapers who probably wewnt out of buisness, if your gonig to steal plants to sell to your custmers your probably going to be doing other origianl buisness practices as well.

number 1: kids shouldn't be going on your land anyways without permission. (they use little barbed plates to keep cats out of gardens too)

number 2: why not mention all the explosives and thermite ideas... they more life threatening...

number 3: only put them out at night...

Lastly its the principle. you can say "Its just a car" It's just 1,000,000$ thieves are thieves, they either adapt to new security measures or stop thieving. what might be your "Plant" might be someones hobby that they spent countless hours doing. (what if someone stole all your locks and tools...)

1 - oh come on we all hoped a fence to get a ball in our youth

2 - im sure no ones actualy going to plant a claymore

3 - ok thats good then

and i know what u mean but i think u would stand a better chance in court maiming someone over a far than a plant.

lol, you actually did that?

And besides, why hop the fence when you can just pick the lock on the gate

Another idea is to have several push-button fuse lighters placed strategically around the garden that are linked to buried lines of black cats, that should scare 'em off... and wake up the neighborhood...
It's ok guys, i have a really bad attention sp-wow look, a beach!

the point is you make the thing seem like it is for keeping cats out of your yard. keeping them from digging. commercial things like that are sold, you just felt it would be cheaper to make your own. If someone steps on it at night it was just an unfortunate accident...

ofcourse i've jumped fences although I used to check the landing zone first... you can even paint them bright orange if you want it only needs not to be seen at night.

If you want non injuring devices then just buy or make the commercial trip flares, or make a rattrap early warning device (you would need primers for that and i don't know if you UK'ers can get a hold of them.)

My sister is an electronic tech and she set up motion sensors with a doorbell system that chimes when the sensor picks up heat/motion. It works great across their driveway, but gets a few false alarms for deer or other animals.

because if so you can make a simple trip wire device for them. Might scare people off ones land but no noise so it wont wake you up.

someoen pm me and remind me to post the link to the autonomous paintball gun that tracks movement tomorrow, things are a bit hectic here atm. you whitelist a few areas, and someone (or a cat) goes into yoru shrubs and they get tagged. if youre' particularry nasty you wire it to an alarm, and use pepperball marker rounds.

not only are they coveed in chemical irritant, and in pain, they're inked for the authorities to pick up.

U can buy them but if u let them off in a built up area ude end up in jail.

u have to remember i live in a country where u CANT own a hand gun and being caught with a knife over 3 inches is a good enough excuse to give u a criminal record. butterfly/flick/gravity knives are jail time. shot guns cant hold more than 3 rounds. bolt action riles are limited to 3 or 5. even some air pistols are good enough for jail time.

Basicaly anything thats fun is illegal

Postby raimundo » 29 Jan 2007 14:12

the weapon in that link stray put up appears to be a pdw90 bullpup submachine gun, made by fabriquenationalde herstalbelguim. that thing can seriously ruin your day. Ya see maguyver with one of them on the 'Stargate' series.
