What is the last picture? The bottom of the lock?

So the key is just a magnet shaped to go into the cutout on the side of the lock? Could you use any magnet held up to the side of the lock?

No, there are several magnets in the key itself I can count about 4 magnets inside the key. The placement of the magnets are what make each key different.

Use small magents, and put them on the key area, let them stick to whatever they do. Then, make a clay make up key, and press it onto the areas the magnets are attracted. Then, peel the magnets out of the key, and flip them over carefully. Then you have yourself a working key.

I like the idea but there are no magnets inside the lock. I am working on opening it up so I will post some pictures later.

Yes, please do. I am curious why sticking a really big magnet on the side of this thing wouldn't open it.

if 1 large magnet was placed on the lock it would attract the right magnets but may repel opposite facing magnets back into the locking mech.
not having a clue how these locks work this is just a wild but feasable guess

I was thinking the same thing until Udanis said there were no magnets inside the lock. Even still, if you had four magnets the size of those hexagons and flipped them over until it opened, there would be a total of sixteen possiblities. Then again, no one said it was a great lock.

I was talking about something the size of each of the four hexagons, that way no matter which corner the magnet's located in, you're getting to it. Two sides to each magnet, one to attract and one to repel gives you two possible ways to place each magnet over four spaces, 2x2x2x2=16. Again, it doesn't really matter since there aren't any magnets on the inside of the lock. I am really waiting to see what's inside this baby.
