I would go with a cheap low light system off ebay... $50 would get you setup and going... Most of the systems on ebay arent the best but they will get the job done.

All I have to add about all this is:

The government should simply be there to force those who refuse to take responsibility for their behaviour to do so, and to write a set of laws that lets people get on with their lives to the best of their ability whilst helping people help themselves, and supporting those who can't.

Oh, and repeal the UK handgun ban. Gun bans cause gun crime to go up. It has in the UK, in Australia, in various parts of the USA, in Mexico, etc. Repealing them might not lower the rate again, but that's still better than an increase year on year!

You should work on the knife ban first, and then move on to bigger things.

Problem with banning guns is that the only people who can get their hands on guns are those not worried about breaking a law. Thus a criminal will buy a smuggled in gun, and use it without fear that the person he is robbing/mugging/raping/beating will shoot him.

Criminals do things the easy way because they don't want to work for their money (That is why they are criminals in the first place). If they risk getting shot they won'd do it. Now that only they have guns they have free reign.
