Inside the RUKO ruko safty plug – A guide by Net-rom

this is a brakedown of the ruko safety plug! most of my new ruko locks both 5 and 6 pins (door/padlock/mailbox) use this system! (and it is a b.... to pick) the plug has one standard pin (the last one) and the rest is single-grooved pins made specially for casting a groove in the plug! the plug looks like a standard (???plug???)pluck with a tube around it, if you remove the tube you will see a bit of metal has been removed at the top of each pin-hole! this makes a gap with the tube for the groove in the pin to catch a lock it!

as you can see this lock calls for very light tention an a lot of luck

did you just cut the cylinder in half?

yes with a hacksaw (but not the plug form this lock i had an extra)

These things seem to be a permanent thorn im my side!

Ive got an Assa Ruko2 padlock, same core but i have a 6pin version with compensated drivers (all spools) and a completely different key way. Its also pined for at least 3 keys. if i get the chance ill take some pictures and post them up.

every time i think i know enough about this lock a new model pops up.

Great pictures. if you ever get any more spare cores give me a PM instead of cutting it up always good to have spare cores for good padlocks.

I have an old Segal Pick Proof cylinder that utilizes pretty much the same technology in terms of a little round cover plate that creates an area to trap pins, just like modern counter milling does.

should I give myself a necro award?

What kind of feedback does the lock give when you get the lip stuck in the sleeve? Totally seized? Can you tickle it back down or pretty much you have to reset?
