Tension tool suggestions.

Hey there.

I have only just started to learn to pick after wishing I could do it for the last twenty years so please excuse the fact that this is a noob question.

I bought a SouthOrd c801 9 piece set of picks for my first set but have found that the tension tools have a habit of slipping when i am trying to pick yale locks and the like. I was hoping that someone maybe able to suggest some more suitable tension tools. Here's hoping.

most people use wiperblade inserts get some from
your local scrap dealer and experiment!

insert the tension tool and push forward as u push down, not as hard just enough to hold it in place, i find this stops them slipping, alternatively the top of a key way is generaly thinner. ive cut a few of my tension tools down so they fit in the top, if they just touch the first pin theres about 2mm between the front of the plug and the inside of the wrench.

or just put a shorter bend on the other end of your wrench. also go over the narrow sides with a file but only enough to roughen the edge. that will give you a firmer grip in the keyway.

could do but they are SO twisted so they wouldn't fit in my case as well if i did that. but it would work just as well as a tool that way
