Simple Bypass For Master #3?

Information about locks themselves. Questions, tips and lock diagram information should be posted here.

This thread might be dead, but I came across this and thought I would post something rather interesting.

I have attempted this technique on several Master Locks #3 and the 500 series. I have yet to find a lock from Master Lock that this WON'T work on.

To ensure that the technique was being repeated as indicated, I placed my tension wrench in the top of the keyway in front of the key pin and put my lift pick to the very bottom of the key way. I then pushed the lifter pick in and lightly lifted it enough to count the pins to find the last pin without lifting the pins themselves. Once located, I performed the technique and the lock pops open. I have done this approximately 7 different locks.

Just thought you might be interested to know that it is possible to do it on more than the #3.

Guys, I hate to burst your bubble, but this is no discovery/trick/bypass. Don't forget that these are 4 pin locks with very loose springs. You are either unwittingly setting all the pins or got a lock with a code that is easy to pick. Thats all.

I've got a box of #1, #3, etc at the shop. I've dremeled/drilled them open before. There is no possibility that you are activating the latch. The keyway is completely seal off from the latch mechanism which is activated WHEN THE PLUG TURNS... Its like a tiny KiK cyl. set inside a padlock body. If I have time tomorrow I'll take some pics for you guys.

I have had a #5 and a #3 that open like explained. but it was pin 3 that it worked on, it was the only pinned that would bind in both locks, soon as i set that pin the lock opened. maybe the same thing is happening in your locks?

if it is a "up series" 1,3,or 5 master that has been used a lot, impressioned, or whatever it is possible to have one or more chambers working on the 7th depth
