security pins and pins that dont budge

hi. i have searched the forum for about 30 mins now and cant find anything on security pins. the main reason i am interested in this is cause i bought a standard yale padlock the other week and while picking i found that one of the pins was stuck and would not budge. i was told that security pins do this so they cant be picked. any help on this? or suggestions? can you tell me the information on this thread cause i cant find it anywhere else but could you keep it on a meduim baisc level please. thank you

lighten up on the old tension and gently lift up the pin. The plug should move slightly as you lift it, so be careful that it doesn't cause some pins to unset.

As illusion said, you are using too much pressure.

you can try the reverse as well: Dont use any pressure at all (so that you know, they DO move) and then slowly increasing the pressure until you cant move it anymore, and that's too much pressure.
Use less that that much pressure

I am fighing the same crap with secerity pins. .. I have this amarican lock. That i have been trying to pick for sometime,, its about one of the toughest locks in my box. ... have not opened it yet,,

Try lifting the pins with no tension at all. Then slowly give it just the tiniest bit of tension and try lifting all the pins again. I know it's hard to believe right now but security pins can actually be easier. They provide more feedback. Anyway, the problem isn't the pins, it's the tension. (Plus, deburring your tension tools doesn't hurt any either.)

If your having trouble getting your tension right when you try your attack on the security pins you might want to try using a Spring Tension Tool.
