Help Picking with homemadepicks (pictures)

Postby tehextinct » 6 Feb 2007 16:29

Hi, im new here!
Well i do make my own picks as seen on the picture below.

Plz do read this :P

I have some questions.

1. Can someone plz post a picture of a pick, with a Centimeter ruller by it, a bought pick plz :) ?

2. Do my picks are able to picks lock like an Abus lock (I got like 4 of them) think they are 4-5 pins.?

3. How do you feel that a pin is picked? You know how do you see/feel or hear that a pin is down so i can continue on next? And in wich end do you start?

Belive it or not, i picked a Abus 65/40, does look like it's 4/5 pins, i have opened it with luck 2 times :D .
I destroyed it and bougth a new one and i'm not able to open it :( .

And can you plz write down some dimensions for a basic pick, and tension tool?

I have been picking locks for 2 weeks now,
locks i have opened are:
Abus 65/40 2 times with luck
Rock big lock 3/4 pins open it easy
And many other cheap locks.

But i wanna learn to pick something harder.
Some big locks like the Abus locks in Norway(were i live).
I used about 2-3 min opening the Abus lock.

And btw if you requmend me to buy som picks were to buy?
When i ask about where to buy i ask people from norway wich has bought from the site themself without any problems :D

And ye i use a Hacksawblade to make the picks, and a junior hacksawblade to make the tension tools.

Picks:
Use grinder to make a pickblank
Then i use a dremel tool to make the basic pick.
Then i polish it with some sandpaper.

Tension Tools:
I grind down the blade to the size i want and use a dremel tool to shape it if i want to do that else i do just bend it the way i want it, without the flame thing used in Pyro's Movie!

theres lots of pictures of picks next to rulers on this thread here. SOme of them are even to scale so you can print them out and they will be real size.

Yes, you should be able to pick an abus padlock, just may take some practice.

to feel if a pin is set i push down on it fairly lightly and assuming you dont have security pins the pin wont budge.

Good Luck
