I also agree with the newb situation. I took on an apprentice 2 years ago and wouldnt let him anywhere near the tool suppliers books until just recently. Within days, he bought a 100 pc HPC paramount set and has only used about 4 of them so far. He also bought a mortice pick set, which is impresive to look at, with 8 L tools, bradle and wire...but the only usefull part of the set are 2 drill templates.
The third and last tool was a 'High Security auto lock pick set' Don't know why he bought it, as we dont do auto's, but I have to admit, I will sure be trying it out.
Anyway, for the new pickers, the point im trying to make is} keep it simple. Don't be impressed with expensive rubbish, Hand made can be just as effective and a whole lot cheaper.
