Knock Off Multilock?

Postby BERK » 9 Feb 2007 21:55

Is this a knockoff, and if it is, what's different from a real Multilock?

That looks like a genuine Mul-T-Lock to me by first glance of the keyway. Looks pretty old.

That's a real mul-t-lock, however, it looks like it's face has been wrenched or pried off.

Theres some funny things going on with that lock,

There seems to be a lot of space between the plug and lock body almost to the point of frontal shimming would easily be done on it, is it the right plug in there?

The keyway is seriously mashed up by what looks like a screwdriver,

Has someone tried to pull this lock appart without knowing to actually pull a lock appart?

It could very well be a knock off, i see more knock offs than the real thing to be honest,

If the face had been ripped off the plug would be a differant colour i think,

No, the keyway is an actual Mul-t-lock keyway, and if you look into the gap between the plug and the shell (which looks normal), you can see the bottom of the 3 drill protection pins that run through the face of the lock. Knockoffs don't have those. The colour of the plug is also normal.

The keyway looks as messed up as the keyway I had on my Mul-t-lock cylinder with that keway, except there are some signs of forced rotation on the right side of the plug.

Looks like an MTL to me.
But I know that Lince and DOM also have a key profile that looks very much like the Mul-T-Lock.
