Wafer tumbler locks

Postby Pwncaker » 12 Feb 2007 22:05

I'm confused with these locks. When I tried to pick a Wafer tumbler lock I found by looking at the square pins I realized my Tension wrench doesn't fit in that well. The lock is on some metal cabinet if it gives anyone an idea. I've managed to knock down a few pins but it just seems so messy. I was wondering if there's some technique I'm missing or a smaller tension wrench that I need. If anyone has any idea on how to help me it would be much appreciated.

well you seem to be havin' trouble...
your wrench should only go in as far as need be to apply tension.IE 1/16"-1/8" keep your tension light and work it................

Yeah, I realize this but the tension wrench kinda fits in weird. On an angle and slightly bent down towards the pins.
The dots would be the places where the key would slide and the / is my tension wrench. The n is the square pin and from there the Tension wrench becomes pushed downward by the small space.
That's the best example I can give :/

i generally use a wishbone tension wrench for anything with an incredibly large keyway, like dimple locks and wafer locks. wishbone tension wrenches piss me off more then anything else in the entire world (besides my boss) but they work.

also i wrote a tutorial awhile back on how to make a circular tension wrench, they are pretty handy also.
