I have only been picking locks for a couple of weeks now. I bought the video with my first set of lock picks last week. I think it is great, especially for a newbie like myself. There's plenty of basic info along with a few bypass methods. It was very helpful getting me started.
Between the DVD and this forum, I have learned so much.

The video was good, I learned a few new things. The cutaway's were great.
I felt it sort of lost its pace towards the end, with the repinning of the cylinder... that part seemed to take forever.

i like the dvd. i'm just starting out and it's given me some good ideas like using a straight pick on padlocks and the 175 bypass.
It's a simple question Doctor, would you eat the moon if it were made of ribs?!

I went to a gun show in Columbus OH during the weekend and I saw Dave showing a group of off duty policemen how to pick locks and how fast he could open handcuffs. I am not sure how many of them bought the DVD or picksets but he had one of the guys raking open a kwickset and the club in no time. I got the DVD, 5 piece Southord set and a set of Auto jigglers. I learned a lot just watching different lockpicking techniques on the cutaway lock. I have raked spool pin locks open before but watching it on the video seem to give me a better feel for it.

oh yeah, and what's up with his blatant southord plugs? i thought that was pretty lame.

I see nothing wrong with his use of Southord tools. Companies regularly compensate for the use of their products. when you watch a movie and see a specific product being used, you can bet that the company paid for the usage. Dave explained his usage of Southord earlier in this thread. samsonai wrote: In the video I use almost exclusively the Southord tools. I feel they are the best on the market for their price. Yes the Falle set from MBA (Mark Bates & Associates) is better but good luck getting it if you're not a locksmith and if you do it will certainly lighten your wallet way more than a set from southord.

yeah i understand that but in the middle of the presentation he's like, watch as i bend this southord pick and then bend it back demonstrating that it will last for life, i thought that was really unnecessary.

it is very interesting. as said earlier, the cutaway lock clips are good. they give you a better understanding on how the lock works.
for a sport lockpicker maybe theres too much info on this dvd
