Military Civilian Service

Postby LockNewbie21 » 16 Feb 2007 0:53

Well Let me explain my dilema.

My area has the Monopoly style locksmith. I do not have the credit (never got a credit card) so loans to start a buisness are out. Plus the lockies are nice guys, however they keep there buiness's with the family old school style.

So basically I am S.O.L as of now. Since Military service runs strong on boths sides of my family, my dad served grandfather was a platoon sargent and so on. I am the blacksheep by fault I guess (I hate excuses) I have a touch of asthma, so no branch will look at me.

So I contacted to see if there were jobs for civilians in security. I mean I am not a master, but now my stuff with locks, and all the goodies.

Now Just to be clear  I am not saying i want to joing the military to be 007 and pick locks. I am more going along the lines of assiting with the changing of lock, making keys, keeping a good security protocal on a base to be exact. Or just bacially be an on base lockie to be quaint :)

I just contacted them so I figured I would right this and see if anyone has any input, maybe expeiernce, something to think of. As i would like to be prepared when I actually go to speak at the local office.

I would like to keep our families service going and even if i don't get to have me a nice 50. cal, I can do my part which i know :)

Thanks in advance for any replies, helps, gripes, suggetions fella's.

My experience with the military, although a long time ago ..

They NEVER put you where you are the most experienced, they find something that is completely different from what you know….

If you want to go out and hunt the enemy de-jur, you can almost be guaranteed a stateside office job.

Hate confined spaces ? You are a perfect candidate for submarine duty

Love to cook ?.. forget it you are going to be a truck driver

If you want to be a locksmith you may want to tell them you REALLY, REALLY want to clean out latrines.
Good luck and keep in mind you are in the service of your country .. your personal pleasure is absolutely at the bottom of the list.

Postby raimundo » 16 Feb 2007 14:30

Military civilian service is just a bunch of happy horseshit the retard put in his state of the union speach, it require congress to make it happen and thats not going to happen, if you read all his SOU speaches, you would find very little that he actually meant except his effort to trash the social security system. these speaches are like his campaign bushit. theres nothing to them. hes a spendthrift hobbywar conservative. Im confident that in a few days you will develope a new idea, or new opportunity. remember when the afgan war began and the occupant was asking school kids to send a dollar for the afgan children, that was never heard from again and karlrove probably spent the money on hoes

Many appreciations for the replies, the where right to point as i hoped :)

I will give it a shot, if it doesn't work, i will try something new.

Like ray said that is indeed horrible a young child tryin to raise money and never heard of again. I also hate the press, even out soldiers said it's pathetic out own blooded americans on speak of death and never give the courage out men deserve.

I will try, also many thanks for your replies there appreciated as I am in the dark. It's good to head from expiernced people. Many thanks guys :)

I dont think you will get what your looking for in the mililtary.
Allmost all building locks are maintained by civilian contractors, our security rarely has anything to do with actual locks other than issueing them.
So probly not what your looking for, and the military is geting more civilian every day.

At least up here in Canada, even the soldiers in the trades must pass an initial physical/medical + battle school (what you guys call boot camp). Combat arms or not. If it works that way in the US, you'll have a hard time in the army with asthma.

One suggestion might be look for military-type employment in the private sector, like a contractor. The way that your country is operating in Iraq, I wouldn't doubt that most of their base operations are also outsourced.

Ummmm, I think you are listening to the wrong people. Right now I have two friends in Iraq that are working on rebuilding Iraq. Yes, they do have a military background, but they are now civilians. You should probably get your information correct before letting it out on the internet.
