When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

hi guys long time no see lol,
Anyway as usual i need your help and advice i've got plenty of warded pick templates but i have no grinder or dremel so what i thought id do is to make them out of my supply of bike spokes, so my question is have any of you made warded pickes that way and if so could you give me any advice on the best way on doing it.
p.s on saturday i may be getting my new slr camera so i can take photos of the process and make a new thread on it.

I havn't tryed it but i think it may work
i would say, bend the spoke to the shape of the template, flatten the head and the shaft, and file to the shape.
I might try it.

Depends what you are calling warded picks, the proper names for things are so seldom used on this site where not-mainstreem us locks are concerned that its hard to realise what you mean,
If you mean for a lever lock then no you need piano wire but if you mean the crappy little set of keys you get with the south ord sets then i wouldnt use them for those either to be honest but a lot more viable,
Is it a lever lock or a warded lever lock? or is it for those laminated padlocks you find on the markets?

Illusion made a nice guide for warded locks with picks made from spokes here:

And a nice guide for lever locks here:

If you decide to make some picks Intago, please keep us updated. I am carrying my snippers in the car, waiting for someone to throw out a bike so I can get some spokes. Most people on the site don't care about these locks but I am fascinated with them.

ive got like 5 old bikes. so i have as many spokes as i want, but they are hard to deal with anyways though. so i usually stay away from them.
only time i would really go back to spokes, is if i had a propane torch or somthing, cuz dremeling them is a major pain in the butt.

speaking of bikes, stay away from Cyclepro brand padlocks. you can bypass em with a straight pick in no time.

There's a nice bike and fitness shop close to my dad's and there's always a few bikes sitting out front...noone will notice a few missing spokes...oh well, I might have to try making some picks from spokes next weekend as I've got an old bike we're about to take to the dump and nothing better to do with it.

they'd notice a few missing spokes once they're wheel got bent out of shape pretty quick. plus, those things are pretty hard to cut off, we use a specialty spoke cutter in the shop. but anyway, you should probably be able to pick a bunch up at your local shop. i know we are always throwing out old bent wheels with perfectly useable spokes on them. just ask em if they have any spokes to give away, and if they don't, i don't think they are too expensive to buy
