security pin or not

Postby NIC » 19 Feb 2007 17:33

Hi this is my first post !!i've got a small question !!I've been picking this Master 575 with success.the only thing is when i start picking, it turns about 10 degrees then gets stuck, i then release the tension keep picking until it opens.Does the 10 degrees absolutely mean i'm dealing with a security pin ??

sounds very much like you're dealing with a spool or mushroom pin, yes.

with 10 deg of movement i'd say it was security pins.

I am not familiar with the 575 model, but i've yet to see a mushroom in a master padlock, so spool is a pretty good guess.

attack the second pin. when you have it turned 10 degrees, lighten up the tension just a bit so it returns to like 5 degrees, and using a hook pick skip the 1st pin, and lift the second pin, and as you do that apply more tension and it should open.

thats masters all brass body lock might have at least 1 security pin installed in it, should be a 5 pin lock though.

ya it's a 5pin lock. The middle pin is the one that makes it turn alot.I can open the lock no problem. I just have to put alot of pressure at first or else that middle pin won't set in the middle of the spool (i'm guessing). Then i release just a bit so the spool passes then two more normal pins to go and VOILÀ !!
