Any bumpers finding that reshaping key bows helps the process? I just copies a SC key onto a Baldwin blank, (Kind of a large square shape, but easier to grip.
A lot of high-sec locks have squarish bows. Is reshaping an asset?
Sorry about the typo. I just copie(d), an SC (bump) key onto a Baldwin blank... (in case that wasn't clear,) and further smoothed the bow shape into a gentle curve. I'm wondering if a smooth bow helps the process?
I supposes a large square bow might make it easier to apply the right amount of torque when bumping opposed to trying to do the same with a bow with smaller area. I guess that may be the reason why I find kwikset locks eaiser to bump.
If a lock is a puzzle, then its key is the complete picture
I did something real close. I got a kw10 key...with a really big bow on it... it looks like a regular bow with the three holes in it but its about 2 or more times the size and it works great. the bigger head did help . I just put it in my key dub machine and copies my bump key onto it..
the kw10 key has a option of being a kw1 or a kw10. you can use it as is as a kw1 key or you can cut one of the shoulders back and turn it into a kw10.. its really quite nice.
plus i moved the cuts forward a bit bo i didnt have to cut the tip at all.
Check into ordering "hotel bow" keys for larger heads.

i like to weld a 4-foot piece of rebar onto the bow. makes sure i can use a featherlight touch in the torque department.
