When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.
I said no to the question because it was asking about picks, but I do think that the tension wrenches are something that need to be seriously considered.
Remember: Anything can be made "Foolproof", but nothing can be made "Damnfool Proof".

Feeler gauge and others work great, but hacksaw blades are more accassable IMO and cheeper. I just picked up some for 10 for a $1. Also feeler gauges are smaller, some might not like that. But they do work great.
