I took a mul-t-lock deadbolt and fitted it into a weiser powerbolt 1000 keypad, using the exterior face of the mul-t-lock with the guard plate and the mul-t-lock ball bearing deadbolt. I had to make a few minor modifications to the powerbolt to make this function and the mul-t-lock deadbolt requires an extended tail piece. This way i get the functionality of my high security deadbolt on my place but i don't need to take keys jogging or biking. We all know the luxury of this item and i will post the small modifications it took to make it happen. It is quite expensive but if you can get the parts used or if you already have them laying around it's going to be fun for you to build it.

Indeed. I have seen conversions to schlage cylinders etc but never this. Sounds like a great project.
For the best book out there on high security locks and their operation, take a look at amazon.com for High-Security Mechanical Locks An Encyclopedic Reference. Written by our very own site member Greyman! A true 5 Star read!!
