Practice Makes Perfect

Just wanted to introduce myself and share my progress so far :) I started maybe 2 weeks ago with a pick set I got from SOUTHORD, been practicing on a cylinder adding pin by pin until I was consistantly picking a complete 5 pin lock. I've had quite a bit of fun with a few locks. I practiced on a ACE key cylinder, until I moved up to a few MASTER padlocks. Then I picked three doors in my house (all of which are not in use) Im quite happy with my progress so far, being able to pick a lock by moving the pins individualy is helping me learn much more than just raking it open. I rarely have to stop picking and start over, and it on average it only takes a few seconds a lock :) I just wanted to say thanks for all the helpfull info Ive been able to gain so far from reading on this forum, and Im looking forward to the much more learning to come.

Thanks Again!
- Jim

It is so good to see someone who actually searches, reads past posts and follow the basic guidelines that has already been laid down for anyone beginning in this hobby and not try to get ahead of themselves too soon. Welcome aboard Java! :D

thanks guys, this being a hobby I cant take all the time in the world to learn it. The way I see it is, at my early stage of learning I feal its beneficial to use the search and have to read through 20 posts before I get my answers. I learn more that way. Thanks for the kind words and warm welcome, I think im going to like being a part of this forum :)

Thanks Again!

I've been told that most of the forums don't have a edit button. I think it's a good thing actually. It make people preview and actually think about what they're about to post instead of just posting whatever they feel like saying.

most of the forums I'm a part of have some sort of an *EDIT* function, but you make a valid point, it makes people think before they just hit submit :)

There is no edit button to stop people throwing their toys out the pram and deleteing all thier posts before leaveing site thus messing the site up,

Sounds like you're coming right along. I'm a newb too, and I've found more information searching than any other way. I'm always running across something new.
