no success picking locks

well im guessing that theres a billion posts about this somewhere but yeh.. ive spent about an hour so far trying to pick a padlock using a standard rake pick, hook/feeler pick thing and standard windscreen wiper tension thing.. so it owuld be greatly appreciated if someone could link me or something because ive tried all the technique over an over and i dunno but it just wont work

Do a search for the MIT guide to lockpicking. I don't know how much you know about picking, but their is no way you can pick a lock without first understanding what goes on inside a lock. Get a deadbolt and follow Digital Blues beginners exercise that is in this site.

One more thing. What kind of padlock are you trying to pick? Some of them are very tough and are not for beginners. The more information you post, the more we can help.

Ya, padlocks can be tough. My advice is to start with a weiser. I think they are the easiest to pick. Good luck

It doesnt come easy nor fast, theres people who have tried for months and months only to suddenly one day pop the lock,

The MIT guide and Shrubs guide are really good to start with. Here is a link to Digital Blue's beginners exercise. I've used all of these guides, and they have helped me a lot.

Also you might want to use blue's guide for beginners, i just got my set today and ive already got the kwikset deadbolt down, it really is a great way to work your way up by adding pins and changing combos! hope this helped!

I also tried a padlock right out of the bag and i quickly got frustrated, do the tutorial and youll be much more proficient.

go to a dollar store or whatever kind store you have that sells all things that are cheap. buy a lock from there they cost like nothing and you should be able to rake it open no problem it's a real motivation booster and will help you not want to give up then you move on to using the pin by pin method and get better locks, make sure to read the guides that have been posted they are very helpful. Go buy a deadbolt take it apart and try that. If it still isn't working take a couple of pins out. you'll get it. be careful about the amount of tension...less it better!

You should also give yourself a break. I know that once I start to lose my patience and become frustrated, it is almost impossible to pick a lock.

I started reading the mit guide at first and i got all confused and i read a guide from Shub and it cleared my doubts. Then i went to a store bought a deadbolt and started with one pin, two pin and eventually 4 pin. And this really helped me with picking locks.

It could be that your difficult lock has one or more security pins in it. These are a bit tough for a beginner. It's good to start just with a cheap (5pins) lock with no security. A lock that really 'speaks'. So you know when you set a pin.
