I started about five years ago for about a year and then dropped it. Two years ago I picked it up again (no pun intended) and have been crazy about it ever since. I'm 22

I started opening antique locks at a young age. I grew up in a 100 year old home with old iron cast grip sets and interior skeleton key locks with glass door knobs on a spindle. My brothers and i always took the knobs off and used steak knifes to retract the latch, this was at the age of 5-7. Also i never carried keys on me so when i would arrive home after school and nobody was home, i would B&E my house to get in. I've done it all, from climbing up into a second story windows, to B&E'ing windows by lifting them up and over their locking mechanisms. I found atleast 80 different ways into my house and garage and i was only 8 years old. I guess my career started very young and i always had an interest in it. As i grew up i was a computer administrator for linux based systems and i found myself testing the software security constantly, i always had the mind state to think like a criminal and protect the system through my gifted views. So the transition into hardware was very easy for me, i already knew the B&E aspect and security vulnerabilities of homes. I got myself a good foundation of locks and keys and safes and cars and from there i ran with it. The knowledge in this industry is only 10% of the job, customer service is 10% and common sense is 80%.

I have had the inspiration for years but only recently (like a year or two back) I discovered this forum and started to read as a background person. Then at some point I registered this account and started to get involved with this more seriously, i.e. started to make tools myself and I've helped many along the way of my learning to improve security in warehouses.

I was and am 20 when I started.
I've always had a slight interest in it, starting with "picking" the bathroom lock with a Lego lance.
Only after seeing and using my brother's picks a couple weeks ago did i get my own and read up more (I had read the MIT guide and the How Stuff Works description many months or a year or so ago).

Wow didn't realize that there were so many younger people into sport picking thats great. I was 18 when I started (now 21) and thought that was an early start to things.
