Postby jimmysmith » 8 Mar 2007 23:20

I was wondering if anyone knows if the axxess+ machines like at fred myers, wallgreens and bi-mart have a key blank that will fit a best brand lock.
I am looking for some blanks...no luck.. i have not turn to the internet yet. but plan to right after this post.

well best make a lot of locks. the "best" bet is to give us as much info on the lock as possible and a closeup picture of the keyway.

There's no way an Axxess plus system will have those blanks. Axxess plus is by far the WORST system for duplication of keys anywhere. Your local hardware store will be a better bet, but most of those keys are stamped "Duplication Prohibited" or "Unlawful to Duplicate" so you may get questions, questions that may or may not be valid depending on your situation.

I already gave you the name and address of a local supply house. Why do you keep posting where to buy this and that questions? Is there a reason you don't want to buy form a legitimate place you haven't told us?

No theres no "reason" of anything i have not told anyone.what are you a freaking cop... writing a book eh? I do appreciate your help but not your sarcastic remarks. I have been to the shop you talked about.. got a few over priced things from there.
My question was only to really know id the axxess machines carry those blanks and if so what # are they.
I asked only about those machines because theres a store less then a block from my house that has that machine and there blanks... I didnt think they would have them but i thought maybe some one would know for sure. as i am sure to the fact that the clerk at the store dont know crap.
another thing.. I dont think i have asked this before so.. I dont keep posting this question...like someone thinks. . so as far as wot little comment.. about asking this before.. I am just not sure i have done that.. if i did.. {i dont recall it} I must have never got the answers i needed. ..

Yup......it would be "best" to know what keyway you need as there are many. Most common being.....A, D, E, F, G, H, J, K, L, M .

I have never cut a "best" type key........only punched em, which is the preferred method.

When you cut/copy a Best type key you doing exactly that.......trying to copy an original..

A key punch you are making what is considered an "original" key, and in saying that....... with a key punch you will need the bitting # of the key so you can indeed make an "original"......

The SFIC has closer tolerances than the residental type locks.....that's why when one tries to copy/cut a SFIC key you have to try quite a bit harder to be successful.......

Yeah, we stopped cutting these on regular code machine and duplicators a looooong time ago and changed over to punches.

Punching is idiot proof and you always get the same depth and spacing unless your punch gets out of adjustment.

The tolerences are just to close for a key grinder to be guaranteed every time.

What blanks do you need? I've probably got a few to spare as long as it's not super funky keyways.

Send me a PM.
