Medeco's Exploited.

Information about locks themselves. Questions, tips and lock diagram information should be posted here.

I didn't think the type of pins in a stack(i.e. spools, mushrooms ect.) had anything to do with the bumpability of a lock, sure bottom mushrooms might effect the timing a little but i don't think it would make the lock impossible to bump.

I'm missing something, you said Medeco's with 4 pins exist in your followup. I was affirming that Medeco's with 3 pins and a sidebar do exist. I guess I'm not clear on what a lock without a shear line is, are you meaning no sidebar?

Sorry, I meant medecos with 3 pins.

SmokieD, most people are under that same impression, but the truth is that mul-t-locks are fairly easy.

Ermis, I hope my post didn't sound like I was doubting you, I was just interested to see if this is something that I could use on the job when I get a lock that isn't my own medeco keyway. I enjoy learning new things. I have a bunch of those blanks in the shop, I'll be doing a little testing of my own tomorrow.

I'm still a little confused as to what keyway this method works on. The link you sent me doesn't mention it. It just claims it works on medeco's "restricted" keyway. I'm not sure what that means... Medeco has more keyways than I can count.

Oh and unfortunately the other guys are right, anti-pick pins will not do very much for bumping. Sure, the pins will bind if the attacker attempts to turn the plug too soon. But if the timing is perfect, the pins won't get a chance to bind. Also there are other vulnerabilities with Mul-T-Lock cylinder's I believe John Falle makes a tool (maybe more than one)?

FYI, without giving too much detail about the attack and from what i understand without being infront of my work bench, the blanks will fit in the lock fine and allow duplication of restricted medeco keys, but impressioning would be EXTREMELY time consuming and not worth the effort. As I originally suspected, it is definitely not something you would be able to use on the job and not a viable attack unless you had hours of unsupervised access to the lock you wanted to bypass. I have real medeco blanks for my own keyway, and I would never even consider trying to impression a lock. Its just not feasible, let alone with a junkyard fix like this.

Key word being "your" medeco's right?

If I picked a box at random off my shelf, how likely are you to be able to pick it?

So if I mailed him a biaxial (or M3 if he's up to it) with no keys + pin bore screws super glued, he'd make me a video of him picking it?

It is, of course, not at all my place to accept a challenge for the man, but I would be betting on him over your lock, any day. ;)

In fact, I will bet on him, should he choose to accept your challenge. I'll happily put $20 on it.

Deal :) IF you have access to the advanced forums I give my method for medeco's.

Ofcourse It is not entirely reliable, but served me well. Also, a much more reliable way is probobly the tool made by falle. If you would like me to explain I can do a brief video, I did have a video up of me picking one in ten or so seconds, i just took it down as it generated shadey people asking for tips on fast opening.

Be glad to let skyler get 20$, I accept

Picking Medeco's can be hard, i have 6 cylinders at home and i've only opened two of them this weekend. what special pick does falle sell for medeco? can somebody PM me some information because i might buy their pick set.
