is it pickable

Information about locks themselves. Questions, tips and lock diagram information should be posted here.

is it pickable

Postby witton » 12 Mar 2007 14:56

i recently was bought a padlock with the name jason on it,the inlet for the key is tapered not allowing for you to get a tension wrench in so i was wandering if this kind of lock is unpickable.
i have a picture but cannot see how to post.

yes it is pickable as all mechanical locks are pickable... sounds like a warded padlock to me though

They are indeed. but for now ide suggest you stick to more common locks so we can try and give you advice. if you are after a first lock get you self a Yale/Union/Zone Rim Cylinder and have a play with that.

If its your first lock try DBs beginners Guide

Jason13 would get a kick out of this.

Anyway, that lock can be picked just not with conventional tools.

It's disk mechanism makes it higher security than most pin and tumblers by virtue of the obscurity of picking techniques, but as an Abloy knock-off it probably easier to open than some of the name brands.

You won't get any help for it outside of the advanced forums. Like the above posters say, start with a pin and tumbler lock, like a Master and work your way up.

Youve got a way to go yet on here im afraid regardless of previous experiance,

The best we can offer right now is to suggest you take a visit to the toool.nl website and search out Han-Fey's excellent abbloy guides with the one that would help you the most being number 4,
