A Different Master Lock Key

Postby CompFX » 16 Mar 2007 23:20

Whats up with the rectangle being cut out of the key? This is not hand cut. I assume it is a factory cut because it has the same rounded corners as the top hole where you would put a key ring though.

Does this maybe signify that it is a "Master" master key?

Your guesses are better than mine.

The code is stamped on the other side of the key. Behind the word Master

It's just a knock out that has been removed.

that is a code area the code block has a small hole in it.it is for making a new key from lost sets. if you have ever bought a car new or medeco precuts they have a similar alum. tag with a code/ blind code for a locksmith to make a key.this is so master only has to stamp the key twice instead of tags and matching them to a set of keys. some dont remove it some do.

Plus, at the rate they kick keys out, they can recast all those knockouts and save money.
