You should browse through the LockSport Local forums to see if there are any. I haven't heard of a sports group in NY as of yet but you might find some like minded people that are regulars on this site near your area. And if you are in NY you can attend some of Barry Wells seminars and lockpick village they host every year over there in the east coast.
