I suggest you may be hitting spool pins so my suggestion is to read up on them and see if it is or not,

If when the plug has turned a bit does it try to turn back again when you continue to press the pins up?

Ps, theres loads of threads on the brinks locks so maybe a search on them would be good as well,

I thought that the brinks locks said spool pins on the back of the packageing if they had them?

Yes I have read a few differant threads about the brinks locks. And I am pretty sure Shrub is right about the spool pin.

The square shrouded models have serrated spools on top and serrated pins on bottom. Once you get the hang of the though you wont have any trouble opening them as the tolerances are poor.
For the best book out there on high security locks and their operation, take a look at amazon.com for High-Security Mechanical Locks An Encyclopedic Reference. Written by our very own site member Greyman! A true 5 Star read!!

You posted in another thread someone else started that you were interested in seeing the answers how to pick this lock because you had one too. viewtopic.php?t=19408 Why start another thread when the questions were answered there?

As Zeek Said, plus, these locks are easier than the american locks they somewhat imitate, because they don't have the anti-tensor spring. (relocking)
Light tension, sensitive feedback from the spools and serrations, and if necessary, a drop of oil, and definatly sand your pix, or you will be feeling the roughness of the tool, and wearing out the lock. USe a wide blade tensor, such as you can make from a pocket clip off a pen cap.
