How common are balanced pin stacks?

Postby PickPick » 21 Mar 2007 8:43

Since without these decoding a lock becomes a lot easier I was wondering if they're really common nowadays or a privilege of the better quality locks. Especially since so much is now manufactured in China and balancing pin stacks makes the assembly slower and more expensive.
It's not the tools that open the lock. It's me.

I assume u mean by this u mean compensated drivers so all the pin stacks are the same size?

thats all ive herd them called. but from my fairly limited experience im yet to see them in cheap Euro's or Rim cylinders. all ive seen them in are Assa, Best and falcon Icores and i think my Medeco 51s have them but i could be wrong on that one.

So i assume most cheaper locks wont have them.

Yes, that's exactly what I meant, thanks for your input.

I find it is becoming more and more common but only as two sizes, a long for any short bottom pins and a short for any long bottom pins,

I dont deal with the sort of cheap locks you mean so cant comment on those,

As you say if we knew it would be so much easier maybe get a table going,
