i don't know about 'abus' but for cheaper brands like 'sterling' or 'securit' i use a half diamond with medium tension.

yes, quite easily.
just keep practicing and you'll get there.
also, have a go at raking/jiggling with a small half diamond.

Uh, witton, yes, that type of lock is easily pickable, light tension, quick and light picking, and the one in the photo has its plug turned just enough that I think it may be in a picked state when the photo was taken, the back of the plug is loosly attached to the circular shackle, so the plug can be picked, then a small flat blade screwdriver can be inserted in the keyway and it will turn the shackle. but you will find that there is enough tolerance in the linkages that you can pick the plug apart from the cylinder without interference by that shackle. After youve done it a few times, you'll easily see what I mean.

I have that very lock. Its a no brand very cheep 5.50 euro. You can't feel the pins bind because it's so badly made, medium tension, single pin picking with a half diamond and a wee bit of luck seems to work
Hope this helps

The other-brands (and no-brand cheapies) of this design are only similar to the real Abus Discus in appearance - the real Abus is far far better than any imititation I have come across.
That said, the Abus itself is certainly pickable, quite easily if you have experience with security pins already.
The tight keyway will make life difficult for those without slim picks.
