Apparently. Actually most reg. schlages have spool pins so they would be harder to pick than this. Im having a hard time with my comercial lock deadbolt. I cant believe the manufacturer didnt throw in a spool pin here and there for the everest

very good job intago, great pictures. I still have 3 of these locks left if anyone wants them, check the buy/sell/trade forum. did you have the spools in there when you were picking it intago? it didn't seem to affect you too badly.

Do you need to pick the side pin first or do you pick it at the end?

Thanks

Depends on the lock. I have one that requires it before picking the pins, another that requires it after 3 pins are picked, and iNtago's appeard to pick after all pins. Every one I have picked as been different.

653454? pretty easy combo to pick, spoolpins or not. Why doesn't anybody here discuss picking locks with maximum "macs"?

Kind of wierd adding a side-pin to it but no spools. I bet it costs more and it really doesnt add that much security. Not as much as a couple of more secure pins would do.

I would say because most here do not have pinning kits for each brand of lock or a universal pinning kit. On top of that, most here I believe would like to keep keys to their practice locks as in the event they sell or trade them they have a better value to other pickers. I would say a small percentage of members here have everest blanks, let a lone a code machine to cut to MACS.

C123 was able to post a comment about the bitting first,

I would like to know if anyone notices a huge difference in picking when original Schlage pins are used verses universal pins. I find locks with original Schlage pins more difficult to pick, I can take the same cylinder have it pinned to the same key ( my kids repin my practice locks so that I never know the pattern ) and I would like to know if anyone has observed this?

I'm sure that if someone wanted Everest or any other keys cut to MACS there are those here with code machines who would be willing to supply them along with the matching pins.
