Check from here the instructions to use search, if the search pages info isn't enough or you need examples: http://www.lockpicking101.com/viewtopic.php?t=6558&highlight=search

I quote "a little":

WhiteHat wrote:Using the Search Function

The search function can be used to reduce the amount of time and hassle
that you have to go through to find the answers you want and can be quite
powerful if used correctly.

The search function can be accessed here:
search.php

On the left hand side of the search page is an explanation which many
people miss or don't completely understand:

Search for Keywords:
You can use AND to define words which must be in the results, OR to
define words which may be in the result and NOT to define words which
should not be in the result. Use * as a wildcard for partial matches

AND

If you are looking for a video of someone using a pick gun and you just
type in "pickgun" into the search box, you will have to crawl through all
the threads with the word "pickgun" in them - which returns in excess of
100 search results

Here is a better way:

Type "Pickgun AND Video" into the search box - this comes up with 5
matches and contains a thread with a link to a video. Using the AND
keyword will REDUCE the number of search results that you get.

OR

If I'm looking to increase the number of search results without doing two
separate searches, I can use the OR keyword. For example, if I'm looking
for information on bump keys or 999 keys - I can type "bump OR 999"
into the search box. Using the OR keyword will INCREASE the number of
search results that you get.

NOT

If you want to filter your results to remove common results that you are
not interested in, you can use the NOT keyword. For example, if you are
looking for references to rotating disk locks that are not abloy, you can
type "disk NOT abloy" into the search box.

If this still returns too many unrelated results with "disk", then you can
combine the keywords like this "rotating AND disk NOT abloy" which will
bring back all the posts that have the words "rotating" and "disk" in them,
but not the ones that also have "abloy". Using the NOT keyword will
DECREASE the number of search results that you get.

Well you spelt it wrong on here did you spell it right on the search is the first question,

Then i will use both your examples,

Door Knob Lock will come up with all threads that have door or knob or lock in them so that will be a lot,

If you read what it says in the search box you will see that it suggests you use the word AND which is what i do,

Your search now becomes Door and Knob and Lock,

Now that will not bring anything up because you are looking for a word that is one of the most common on site so it confuses the search and brings back zero results, that word in this case is lock, if you dont believe me type pick or lockpick in the search and see how many results you get back on a lockpicking forum,

So what you do is leave off the Lock part so your search becomes Door and Knob,

With that search you get somthing like 7 pages and on the first page there are loads of threads on picking them, removing the plugs from them etc etc,

Another helpful thing you can use is the word OR this can search for either of the words ina thread instead of both together, this means that Door or Knob will bring up all the threads that have door or knob in or both together where as the and command will only show up threads which have the exact phrase of door knob in,

Now youve removed locksmith as occupation from your profile which was a wise move can i suggest that another wise move would be to stop calling our quality threads junk as thats very offensive, its your search that needs sorting out not the sites, i hope the above is of use to you,

I stated on your 'mistake admission' thread that you had earnt my respect back for coming clean, i would have thought that you would have lied low for a while after that and done some reading instead of making threads slagging our site off, youve only been here 5 minutes,
We work hard to keep this as it is for people like you,

Ryan,

Your searches were far to generic. Imagine searching Google for "how to use the internet". You aren't going to get what you want. You should really read the FAQ's/Stickies thoroughly. They will answer most "noob" questions,a nd give you a strong base for later exploration.

Just a general thing, and I'm not having a go, but you really should try and work on your spelling/typing/english when you post/search. We have many members whose first language isn't English. The better the spelling and grammar of your post, the better they will be able to understand and help you.
