Click my www button,

You used the wrong tools for starters im afraid,

The pins dont pick in a order like you are thinkiing but they do pick in an order which is called the binding order,

Have a read of the guide on my www button and go from there,
Shrub

If you think about it Shrub, you kinda are. You have the power to make things disapear, add to locked threads, and make it so a poster is never heard from again. I think I may get out my popsickle sticks and build a monument.

If anything, a good first "pick" would be a safety pin instead of a paper clip, because it can take more pressure before it deforms too much. Though really, I would suggest trying to buy a set or make your own from a better material.

Safety pin is nice, thats how I started. But if you want to advance in the hobby it just won't cut it with some locks. It just adds to frustration and you end up thinking you are the problem when it's really your tools that are failing. I highly recommend this set here, http://southord.com/images/fullsize/MPXS-08.jpg. It's simple but has enough tools to keep a beginner well armed for at least a year or two depending on how fast you progress.
If a lock is a puzzle, then its key is the complete picture
